Seeing as I live literally right across the street from this place (Seriously. I can see it from my bedroom window!) I've eaten here multiple times, and each time it was consistently good. Every time. I've never had something from here that I didn't like. In particular, the Colorado Burrito is a slam dunk. So good. Same with the Supreme Quesadilla--though be warned, it is mega sized and messy and not for the faint of heart. I also love the pico de gallo and salsa, I'll often ask for extra and horde it in my fridge to add extra deliciousness to other meals. I also love their chips, but if you're getting them for takeout, here's a tip: ask for your guacamole or pico de gallo on the side, and then add it yourself when you get home, because the chips tend to get soggy pretty quickly when these sit on the chips for too long. Unless you like it like that, in which case, carry on. In addition, the people that work here are nice, and always get my order right. And all of this at a cheap price. Two thumbs up from me. Will always be a favorite.

So yesterday I decided to try out Taco Express for the first time. I had read the reviews here and it seemed like a pretty good place to go. I couldn't have been more wrong. Just hours after eating some shredded beef tacos I came down with some nasty food poisoning. It was the only thing I ate yesterday that my gf didn't so I am positive it was the cause. You have been warned!

Love Taco Express - try the grilled chicken tacos - they are really good. The only downfall, the prices are a bit high - but I'm willing to pay a bit more because everything is great quality. They also have 'hot carrots' which is a bonus for the San Diego transplants. :) Definitely a good place to grab food any time of the day since their drive thru is open 24/7!

I think one of the best authentic Mexican food restaurants in Colorado. Love love love the carne asada dishes! Breakfast burritos here will fill you up well into lunch or even into the afternoon... Food portions are large for the money and the food has always been hot and fresh. One of my faves!

  • David K.

Huge and tasty breakfast burrito, rice and beans. Fast and friendly service. My only complaint is guacamole is too runny and not much flavor. Seems like it comes from a can or jar. Good red sauce and good tortilla.

Total garbage, came through the other day for a late lunch and got a chorizo burrito. Immediately as I started eating it the grease started soaking through the paper. The chorizo was cheap and tasted like they used sand as filler and the whole bottom half of the burrito was just completely soaked in disgusting red grease. It wasn't even edible at that point. Looks like I'll be sticking to Monica's from now on

Fantastic carne asada, beef and fish tacos. First timer and will be back for more. Everything on the menu looks good. Would recommend highly.

Delicious, fast, friendly, authentic and affordable! I had the carne asada burrito smothered with their amazing spicy green chile. Lots of carne and no rice or beans in the burrito, yay! Also plenty of guacamole, fresh onions, tomatoes and cilantro. They don't skimp here! This will be several meals for me as it is huge and for the price... Only $6! I will definitely return and highly recommend

Good food, quick, and good, friendly service. I used to come here often, but it had been a while. When I came back it was as good as I remembered. My favorite is the chorizo burrito in the mornings.

My favorite is the carne asada burrito! It's big,& packed full of guacamole, pico di gio & steak! Good stuff! Love their red hot sauce with it too!

  • Chelsea D.

Love their breakfast burritos. I get the sausage one and my bf gets the ham one. We always add potato which really makes it filling and yummy. Sometimes the wait in the drive through can be long, but the food is fresh. Always get a good amount of salsas and the carne asada fries are delicious! My one complaint is the burritos seem to be different size and flavor wise depending on who is working. Also I get the beef tostada but several times in ends up bean, so you have to be really clear and enunciate what you are ordering.

  • Nicole G.

Its okay. If you don't mind greasy Mexican food from a can (sometimes I don't even mind), then this is the place for you. Its not expensive, but for a Mexican fast food place, it is. The customer service is rude, but that's what I expected from a Mexican place so I didn't mind. Most of the employees don't speak English all that great, but they know numbers so order your food by the number on the menu. Overall, I say if you live close, give it a shot. If you don't live close, it's not worth it.

The carne asada burritos and breakfast burritos are awesome! Service is usually very good too. Inside is always clean that's a big plus for me.

Fine Fine Fine! No more vulgar reviews! Tacos here are great...best I've had in the Springs. I ordered two Lengua Tacos...best tasting with a little spritz of lime. Carry on!

Tasty food loaded with what you pay for (meat, not rice filler) and reasonable prices. The portions are large and the red & green sauces are both good. I like the breakfast burritos, the carne asada, and the pork adobada.

  • Jeremy T.

MUY BUENO!!!! I've been a BIG fan of these type of burritos for the past five years. I would have to say Taco Express rocks! I've tried a couple of others taco stops in town, but I would have say that I prefer this one. I go with the Colorado Burrito and rolled tacos. If I want to get loco, I'll go with the carne asada nachos. Also, it's a must to get a large horchata drink with your meal. One reason why I like this place is their hot red salsa. It's much better than other places. The only other taco shop I would recommend is Taco Star. Enjoy!!!

My husband picked us up some burritos last night, and I must say that I was highly disappointed. He got a California burrito ( carne asada, guac and French fries) and something hard stabbed him in the mouth. I got the chicken burrito and it was unbelievably salty. I literally ate a fourth of the burrito and had to throw the rest away. My husband also got a Jamica drink and it had a weird fermented taste to it. Needless to say, we will never be eating there again

  • Daniel H.

I've been looking for a good Colorado Style Breakfast Burrito (yeah, that's actually an official burrito style) in California and they are amazingly hard to come by. Usually when I get to Colorado I go straight to get a breakfast burrito, which is why I was delighted to find this new Taco Express open near my parent's house. This location is just as yummy as the Centennial location, but although they claim to be open 24 hours I don't think this location is. However, this location has a big inside dining area and it's very clean. Back when I was working construction in the Black Forest this place would've been a standard breakfast place, I'm sure.

  • Troy G.

I love breakfast burritos, but these guys (like many taco shacks) basically give you a french fry wrapped in a tortilla with a nibble of bacon on each end. I'm seriously starting to think its so you take the first bite on either side with bacon and continue eating through the log of french fry in search of more bacon. We've also tried some of their lunch options as well with no better luck. Don't get me wrong though, if you're looking for an average run of the mill taco shack experience this place will do. Never been sick off the food, place looks clean, and people are friendly. But if you are looking for shack that draws you off your couch on a lazy Sunday morning/afternoon in search of a breakfast burrito then I would say go elsewhere if you have the time.

  • Zach S.

This place was awesome. I just moved from San Diego and I was craving taco shop type Mexican food. All their food hit the spot but their carne asada burritos were certainly the highlight. I love this place, they are inexpensive and right near my house.

Had I read John H's review I would have avoided this place. Took my family here yesterday for some tacos and now find ourselves in the toilet puking from food poisoning. It's the only thing we ate together yesterday and now all three of us are sick. If I could give negative stats I would give 5 negatives.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
